Experiences

Past patient encounters from research studies and shadowing experiences showed me why a career in medicine is so exciting. There’s more to being a doctor than solving difficult medical cases-- it includes being a caregiver with empathy, compassion, and the power to advocate. More than ever, we need leaders who are in the trenches of care to make real change. We need providers who are well-versed in both patient care and policy to help patients unable to afford coverage, navigate the healthcare system, deal with discouraging social stigmas, and combat health anxieties. I plan to devote my future to investigating, collaborating, and helping all people get better not only through downstream impacts but also upstream interventions.
